Stephen Hawking 

born 1942 to 2018

He was a Theoretical Physicist and Icon who was diagnosed at the age of 21 with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Despite having ALS 

Hawking continued to perform innovative work in physics and cosmology.

His work has provided the most comprehensive explanation for the cosmos to date.

His books helped to make science accessible to everyone.

Hawking’s contributions to physics earned him many exceptional honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
